ARISE Training & Conference | 2-4 May 2019, Singapore

ARISE (ASEAN Region International Student Engagement) is an initiative by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), in partnership with the Erasmus Mundus Students and Alumni Association (EMA) and the OCEANS Network with the support of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and funded by the Erasmus+ Student and Alumni Alliance (ESAA).

Internationalisation @ Home

With a large network actively supporting international students and fostering IaH, ESN is the key student network in these fields in the European Higher Education Area. As an Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) stakeholder, during the latest ASEM Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM1) held in Austria in October 2018, ESN presented an idea for a new initiative which would empower students to create local organisations fostering IaH and supporting international credit and degree students in Asia.

In order to kick-start the pilot phase of this initiative, ESN has secured funding through a grant from the Erasmus+ Student and Alumni Alliance (ESAA), which will financially support the organisation of a conference and practical training event in Singapore.

Conference & Training Event

The conference and training event will bring together approximately 10 experts in international student mobility and IaH from Europe and Asia, with 20 ASEAN HEI representatives (in particular International Relation Office staff members) and students, and it will consist of workshops, cooperative sessions, and a panel discussion.

The event will allow the participants to:

At least 6 HEIs from 6 different ASEAN countries, each represented by 1 International Relations Office staff member and 2 students, will directly be involved in the pilot phase of the project. They will take part in the conference and training event, and will bring back the newly acquired knowledge to their respective institutions, which in turn will enable and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement the plan drafted during the event.

Through the ASEF Outreach Programme and our Education Department, ASEF is proud to be a partner of this event.
