The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and its Partners are pleased to publish the key messages and recommendations of the 18th Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights on the topic "Human Rights and the Prevention of Violent Extremism" (ASEMHRS18) held on 5-8 November 2018 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The Publication details the proceedings of the 18th Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights and addresses the complex relationship between prevention of violent extremism and human rights protection. Topics cover push and pull factors of violent extremism, women's involvement, rights and security; and the role of local community, youth and education in prevention of violent extremism.

The 18th Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights was organised by ASEF, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (nominated by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland. It was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
